Welcome! We have a lot in store for you!

PictureJoy Maples, President, Philharmonic Guild
We so enjoyed meeting with you all--safely and  IN PERSON. Our February program was a phenomenal success. We enjoyed the Broadway-style production and we thank you all for attending.

Our March program is Wednesday, March 17, 11:30 a.m. and features a concert of the winners of the Young Solo Artist Competition. The program will be held at the Youth Symphony's new offices at 3113 Primrose Drive. Colorado Springs, CO 80907. A light lunch will be served. RSVP here.

We also welcome you to join our Listening Club. We will have our first installment on Tuesday, April 13, 2 p.m. via Zoom. This is a no cost event. RSVP here and read more about it to the right of this column.

And finally, we are going to try again to host our "First Annual Kentucky Derby Watch Party and Fundraiser." Save the Date: Saturday, May 1, 3 to 6 p.m. We are working out the details but with a raffle, a hat contest, a bourbon tasting and several prizes, we believe this will be a great event.
Thank you for your ongoing participation and support of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Guild. We have a lot of good things going on right now and into the Spring.
Sincerely,
Joy Maples

Our first Listening Club is Tues, April 13,
2 p.m. via Zoom.

The Colorado Springs Philharmonic Guild (CSPG), in conjunction with Philharmonic Associate Music Director Thomas Wilson, introduces the CSP Guild Listening Club; a no-cost program to encourage the listening, learning and discussion of classical music. Maestro Wilson will conduct monthly, one-hour programs that guide listeners through a piece of music; analyze the piece for feeling, tempo, chord progression, etc.

Maestro Wilson will provide pertinent details about the composer--the time period, the
particulars of the geographic area, and the major players/contemporaries in their sphere of influence. A PDF of questions and notes will be distributed via email. Question from the Zoom audience are appreciated during the Q and A section. RSVP here.

A reminder of the Guild's sheet music library

In 2003, The Colorado Springs Symphony Guild (as it was called then), desiring to further promote the musical arts in Colorado Springs and the liberal arts mission of Colorado College, made a gift of the Symphony Library to the College. Currently housed in Packard Hall on the Colorado College campus, this vast collection of over 800 orchestral scores and parts is available for use by orchestral groups residing in El Paso County. The following guidelines pertain to its use:
      • The College has the primary right to use the Symphony Library for its educational purposes. However, whenever reasonably
practicable, the College shall make the Symphony Library available upon request to other established symphonic organizations
of all levels, based in El Paso County.
  • The College will not charge for use of the Symphony Library by other Colorado Springs orchestral music users except to the extent necessary to cover reasonable processing and administrative expenses associated with maintaining the music library. The fee is normally $20, only to be exceeded if the preparation for borrowing several works requires an undue amount of time.
This collection is searchable in the Catalog. To inquire about the collection or request to borrow materials, please contact Daryll Stevens, Music Librarian, (719) 389-6126, or email the library.

A Night In @ The Broadmoor was a success!

The Philharmonic Guild's "A Night In" fundraiser was well attended and netted the Guild almost $1,000. The best part is that everyone had a great time and enjoyed the fellowship of like-minded members and friends.
