We look forward to our October program

For the Philharmonic and its Guild, the "season" begins in September. At the beginning of summer, the upcoming season is unveiled and ticket sales commence for the various programs. Well, we all know how this year is shaking out. Rather than lament about the lack of a season, we must press on into what we CAN accomplish.

In the works are several small-scale performances. More details will be provided as they roll out. And, how about a possible book club type setting for classical music lovers to meet and discuss specific pieces of music and composers? Send an email to Joy here if you would like to join in live or via zoom. We are also rolling around some cooking class idea built around different composers and the meals they would have enjoyed in the time and geographic area where they lived and worked. Now that would be fun!

Our October program is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cheyenne Mountain Country Club at 9 Lake Avenue, Colorado Springs. Please note that jacket and tie are required for gentlemen. Dress code is strictly enforced. Featuring the violin music of Cynthia Robinson, Suzanna Schulz, and Heather MacArthur, the reception will be a time for Guild members and their guests to enjoy each other's company while enjoying small bites and wine. Robinson will play for us, as well as take time to answer questions specific to her musical training, her instrument and her passion for symphonic music.

RSVP here. If you have a plan to bring a friend, just let us know in the RSVP form.

Most sincerely,
Lisa and Joy, co-presidents,
Philharmonic Guild Board of Directors

Sticky Notes: a great podcast about classical music.

I am not sure if I am stuck in the past....I  prefer books, and newspapers and magazines, over electronic newsletters and pod casts. In fact, I just have not figured out how to incorporate pod casts into my life. My sons recently "helped" me get situated in folding a pod cast into my routine. If any of you hike, or sew, or quilt, cue the "STICKY NOTES" pod cast up and give it a listen while you work, or quilt, or walk. Very informative and deep without being overly technical. I am enjoying them. Each one is about 30-40 minutes and you can review their extensive library and enjoy a podcast about your favorite piece or composer.
