One of many firsts for the Guild in this unusual time. It was very disappointing to cancel our Spring Fundraiser: Kentucky Derby Party, especially during this difficult time for the Arts. We are very happy to announce that the following sponsors wanted to leave their donations with the Guild to help fund our annual gift to the Philharmonic. El Pomar Foundation $2500.00 Tiemens Foundation $1000.00 Disruptive Medical Solutions $1000.00 Mena’s Hope & Joe $1000.00 Raymond James $1000.00 Montgomery’s $500.00 The Guild held four fundraisers this year, the Peachy Party, The Nutcracker Boutique, the Winter Event at The Broadmoor and the donations to the Derby Party. Because of the generosity of all the sponsors and guild members who supported these events, the CS Philharmonic Guild will gift $40,000.00 to the Philharmonic in May. There was a lengthy discussion about the May member meeting but the board did regretfully vote to cancel. This was done for several reasons but first and foremost for the safety of you, our members. The May meeting was to be sponsored by to the Philharmonic. It was felt that at this time the Philharmonic can put those funds back into supporting the musicians and staff. Thank you Nathan and your staff for your generous support. Every little bit saved at this time can support the organization. The Guild's nominating committee will submit their nomination to the board in mid-April and these will be posted on the website and in the newsletter. Members are free to nominate via email and voting will be done via internet. The nominating committee hopes to present their slate within the next 7-10 days I have enjoyed all the virtual concerts offered over the Internet but look forward to a time when we can once again enjoy live music together. 🥁 Most sincerely, Hope Mena Guild Board President LA Times lists best symphonic concerts to listen to during the "shelter in place" order.
