Now What....?
Here we are, a month away from the kick-off of our Fall season. We have been waiting and watching COVID numbers specific to our state, while also keeping a watchful eye on the Nation's trending coronavirus statistics. As we continue to wait, we seem to gain very little new information or reassurance. We could be disheartened, depressed.. or even a little disgruntled.
However, we are embracing a different approach: creativity – in how we approach Guild meetings this year. Compassion for out-of-work musicians, and our student musicians and scholarship winners who are trying to move forward; and caring for the health and well-being of those in our spheres of influence--our "pods" for lack of a better word. Wringing our hands and waiting are not productive things, but understandably, we find ourselves doing these two things on a regular basis. We, the Guild's board of directors have met twice, and have decided, that in faith and hope, and with safety measures in place, we are moving ahead into our season. Join us on Wednesday, September 16, 5 to 7 p.m. for our first meeting. We will meet at the Gold Hill Mesa Community Room, 142 Raven Mine Drive, Colorado Springs, 80905. They are providing the space, with appropriately distanced tables, an additional outdoor space, and we will have live music featuring the Marc Neihof trio. What a lovely thought: enjoying live music in the company of friends. There is no planned speaker (therefore no zoom option) for this first program. This is a reception to welcome Guild members and their guests to our season. It may look a lot different than in the past, but we hope that by meeting together safely, we can restore a sense of normalcy, while keeping in mind that our events and our habits are going to look different into our near future. We are determined to make a difference this year, and to continue in our mission to support our Philharmonic. Bravo! RSVP here. If you have a plan to bring a friend, just let us know in the RSVP form. Most sincerely, Lisa and Joy, co-presidents, Philharmonic Guild Board of Directors |
Membership in the Philharmonic Guild: an opportunity to partner with our symphony and its musicians.
Our future seems up in the air in many different ways. Some of us are struggling with employment questions, others with kids and grandkids at home for the school year, or we have cancelled vacation plans that cannot yet be rescheduled.
Aside from spending time contemplating our own losses and disappointments, how can we ensure our community's health and wellness? And once the basic needs are met, how do we move forward into the beauty that many of us find missing from our lives at the moment? There is a REAL "thing" out there--the COVID fog. We have all this extra time on our hands, yet, seem to get little done. (Maybe it's just us...?). We want to encourage our members to move forward into our program season. If you could take the time to renew your Guild membership, that would be a huge help for us as we plan our year and our annual fundraising goals for the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. Please renew here. |
