Colorado Springs Philharmonic Guild monthly email newsletter October 2019
From the PresidentOur upcoming Fall Fundraiser is just a few short weeks away. This Fall Fundraiser will serve to raise funds for the Guild's ongoing programs, as well as Wiley Skaret's foundation, James 1. Read more about it here. Several of the Guild members, who are also Maestro's Circle members, were privileged to have heard Wiley Skaret play the piano for us when we were in Columbia last April. Wiley’s father, Brian, is a Diplomat with the American Embassy in Columbia. Wiley will be playing in a piano competition in Arizona in November and has agreed to travel to Colorado Springs to put on two private performances, in Guild member homes. He is an extremely talented young man and we are privileged to have him come to Colorado Springs. Please buy your tickets here.
Our October program was a fabulous success with more than 60 Guild members attending our program featuring Alex de Costa, one of the most sought after violinists, and a guest artist with the Philharmonic's Brahms concert this weekend. Most sincerely, Hope Mena Guild Board President Still time to attend the CSPhil's Brahms this Sunday

SAVE THE DATE: December Program
We will have a holiday party on Tuesday, December 17, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Guild members will convene at The Deco Lounge at the Fine Arts Center. We will enjoy an evening of food and traditional Christmas music.
RSVP here. Nutcracker donations greatly appreciated
Do you have cherished nutcrackers that you are hoping to find a new home for? The Nutcracker committee is very willing to give you a hand. We have had people donate some of their special nutcrackers to our event. In return we give you a tax receipt and the assurance that someone will purchase your nutcracker and leave the event full of joy. And really, is that not the whole reason for our holiday season?
You may contact Sharon Schneider or Cheryl Schwartz to make arrangements for your donation. In town the week of Thanksgiving? Feeling stuffed with food from Thanksgiving? Come work it off and get involved! We are always seeking volunteers for the Nutcracker Boutique. This is an extremely happy event with many delightful children as our customers. Everyone is smiling at the Nutcracker! We can use sellers, wrappers, cashiers, raffle ticket sellers and box movers. We can use you the morning of set up (Monday of Thanksgiving week), we can use you when we pack up the little remaining items on Sunday afternoon (after the last performance). We can offer you a FREE ticket to see the ballet if you work a shift for us on Friday afternoon or evening, Saturday afternoon or evening or Sunday afternoon. Contact the volunteer coordinator Mary Thacker or 304-678-9552. The KINGS RAFFLE is in full swing. Five beautiful, unique and stunning kings (featured below) will be raffled off on Sunday, Dec 1 during intermission of the final performance at the Pikes Peak Event Center. The raffle tickets can be purchased ahead of time. You do not need to be present to win. They are 5 for $20 or $5 each. These tickets will be available at all membership meetings prior to the Nutcracker OR you can contact the raffle chairwoman Susan Callahan to purchase. These marvelous kings made their Colorado Springs debut at the September membership meeting. Treasurer's Report: September 30, 2019 |
